When assessment is useful
Leaking connections, valves that do not seal and damaged pipes require identifying the component and conditions for work. Refurbishment alterations also need defined scope.
State whether water is still escaping, whether it is isolated and which areas are affected. A utility room and a concealed pipe may require very different access and reinstatement.

What needs checking
Material, condition, accessibility and component compatibility matter. Repairing a connection, replacing a section and renewing a network are different decisions.
Consider water interruption, protection and coordination with occupants before execution. Keeping the entire installation operational is not promised.

How the work is defined
Separate access, repair or replacement, components and checks. Confirm waste removal and reinstatement of coverings, walls or other finishes.
Gas, drain unblocking and specialist industrial networks are not included by association. Additional activities require express confirmation.

Preparing your enquiry
Describe the affected point and access. Explain occupancy, operating constraints and who authorises isolation or entry.
Do not dismantle connections or force valves for photographs. Keep away from electrical hazards.

Does all pipework need replacing?
Not necessarily. Assessment distinguishes a local fault from problems justifying replacement of a section or more installation.
Does repair include closing walls and painting?
Only if agreed. Opening, closing, drying and painting should be itemised.
Can alterations be requested during refurbishment?
They can be assessed with the intended layout, access and site coordination. Feasibility and scope must be confirmed before contracting.
